Police have revealed heart-wrenching details behind a possible murder-suicide on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Great Hall Drive in Miami where they found a married couple including an 81-year-old man and 79-year-old woman dead at 4.10pm on Thursday.
Gold Coast detective Mark Mooney said the couple’s daughter tragically found them deceased in their bedroom.
Mr Mooney said the daughter was visiting to help relocate her parents into a nursing home in Victoria.
It was understood the elderly woman was suffering with dementia and her husband had recently been released from hospital after having hip issues which made him lose his mobility.
Mr Mooney said police found a typed note during their investigations.
“The note indicates that they weren’t interested in moving into a home,” he said.
Mr Mooney confirmed they were not treating the death as suspicious but were looking into “all avenues” including it being a murder-suicide or a double suicide.
“We are making our investigations and enquiries. We are keeping an open mind and everything is on the table at this point in time.”
It was believed the couple had lived on the Gold Coast for more than 20 years.
They had most recently been living in the Magic Mountain Apartments, which were built on the site of popular 1980s tourist attraction, Magic Mountain.
Police said they were not searching for any offenders and there was no threat to the public.
