Man on the run after frightening theft in Mount Duneed

A man was lying in the middle of the road before he stole a woman’s handbag in a frightening theft in the early hours of Saturday.

A man was lying in the middle of the road before he stole a woman’s handbag in a frightening theft in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said a woman was driving along Whites Rd in Mount Duneed about 12.30am when she heard something hit her car.

“She pulled over and got out to check and saw a man on the road,” a police spokeswoman said.

It’s understood the man was lying in the middle of the road before he approached the woman’s car, stole her handbag and fled in a waiting vehicle.

The spokeswoman said the victim was not physically injured and contacted police.

It’s believed the man may have been attempting to steal the woman’s car and her belongings.

Whites Rd is a rural stretch, lined by trees and thick bushes.
