A Grovedale man has been charged following an alleged stabbing outside Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre last week.

A Grovedale man has been charged following an alleged stabbing outside Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre last week.

Police were called to the shopping centre on Thursday night to reports of two men and a woman fighting.

A Victoria Police spokesman said a 34-year-old Grovedale man was charged following the incident and was due to face court on Monday.

“A 34-year-old Grovedale man has since been charged with 11 offences including intentionally cause injury, reckless conduct endanger serious injury and assault with a weapon,” the spokesman said.

“Police were called to reports of a two men and a woman fighting at a shopping centre on Pioneer Road about 8.45pm (on Thursday).

“A 24-year-old Belmont man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“A 33-year-old Belmont woman was also attacked but received no injuries.

“The second man fled the scene but was arrested several hours after the incident.

“It is believed all parties involved are known to each-other.”

A man is on the run after two people were stabbed during a violent fight outside Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre.

Geelong Criminal Investigation unit detectives are probing the attack which occurred about 8.45pm on Thursday

Victoria Police spokeswoman Alex Day said a 24-year-old Belmont man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Ms Day said a 33-year-old Belmont woman was also attacked, but was not injured.

“Police were called to reports of two men and a woman fighting at a shopping centre on Pioneer Road about 8.45pm,” Ms Day said.

“Investigators have been told one of the men was stabbed by the other male during the altercation.”

Ms Day said the offender fled the scene as police arrived.

It is believed all parties are known to each other.
