A man allegedly behind the wheel of an SUV involved in a two-vehicle smash in Norlane has been arrested by police while another driver remains on the run.

Police allege a Ford Falcon and a Ford Territory collided on Thompsons Rd, near Cox Rd, about 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Sergeant Melissa Seach said the Falcon fled the scene but the alleged driver of the Territory, a 23-year-old man from Norlane, was arrested nearby.

“Police are currently searching for the driver of the Falcon,” she said.

A photo taken by a passer-by showed the green Territory was badly damaged following the smash and its front bumper was crushed.

Paramedics and fire crews were also on the scene.

Police are urging anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
