‘Doesn’t happen to people like me’: Geelong man wins almost $1m in Saturday’s Tattslotto

A man’s morning coffee routine was interrupted by the revelation he was almost $1m richer.

An unknown Geelong man received the news he had won more than $950,000 in Saturday Tattslotto while making his morning coffee.

A Geelong man discovered he was almost $1m richer while making his morning coffee after winning in weekend Tattslotto.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, held one of 21 division one winning tickets in Tattslotto draw 4489 on Saturday.

Each winner scored $952,380.96.

His winning marked 12-game entry was purchased on The Lott website using family member’s birthdates.

“It feels kind of weird – a little bit surreal,” he said to an official from The Lott.

“Stuff like this doesn’t happen to people like me.”

“It’s insane.

“I was making my morning coffee and still getting sleep out of my eyes when I got a message to check my ticket.”

He said he had been using the numbers in different combinations for some time.

“It’s a couple of family birthdates and numbers like that,” he said.

“I still work but this might speed up my retirement plans.

“I’ve got some thinking to do and am going to need a strong coffee.

“This is not a bad interruption to my morning, that’s for sure.”

The winning numbers in Tattslotto draw 4489 were 4, 37, 45, 27, 11 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 10.

Eight of the division one winners live in Victoria, five in New South Wales, four in Queensland, two in South Australia and two in Western Australia.

In 2024 252 people have won division one draws.

Earlier this month a Lara man won $12m in a Thursday Powerball and in January a Geelong woman won a Saturday Set For Life draw, which will see her pocket $20,000 every month for 20 years.

In 2023, Tattslotto created 176 millionaires across Australia.
