Customers across the region are set to spend millions on one of the region’s biggest spending day of the year.

Black Friday, which this year falls on November 24, will see customers spend big bucks, as stores host sales of up to 70 per cent off.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan said the Black Friday sales were an “important time” for the region’s retailers.

According to Spendmapp data for our region, residents strengthened our local economy by spending $22.8m locally on Black Friday in 2022, Mr Sullivan said.

“It was the largest spend day in Greater Geelong aside from the week leading up to Christmas, with the 2022 Black Friday sales seeing an increase in spending of $5.2m or 30 per cent more than an average Friday that year.

“I encourage community members to support local businesses as you get ahead on your Christmas list and snap up a bargain.”

Nadia Stamp runs her business Dipd Nails out of her Rippleside home.

She said Black Friday was traditionally one of her “biggest sales.”

“It’s prior to Christmas, and everyone stocks up,” Ms Stamp said.

“It’s about as big as our Boxing Day sale, and we release Christmas colours and festive colours in that time, too, because a lot of women love to do their nails and this is the busiest time of the year.”

Dipd Nails sells kits that allow people to do their nails at home, without needing to go to a salon.

This year, their Black Friday sale will see up to 70 per cent off across the business’ online store.

“Our biggest sell for new customers is them wanting to try the product and actually do their nails,” Ms Stamp said.

“Once you start doing your nails, you don’t need to go to a salon, the kit has everything.

“So it’s a pretty great saving because a lot of people are cutting back, and trips to the salon are normally the first to go.”

Torquay based Tribe Skincare is also putting on a difficult-to-resist sale.

Digital marketing manager Abi Plester said the business sees a 500 per cent increase in orders across Black Friday week as opposed to normal.

“It’s really huge for us,” Ms Plester said.

“It helps us set up for next year, and it is really so we can invest that into product innovation and more gifts for our customers next year just to be able to give back.”

“It’s kind of a win win scenario.”

Tribe Skincare is offering 20 per cent off storewide, the sale starting last Thursday will run through to Monday the 27th.
