A dead-end Geelong street has allegedly been marred by drug deals, knife wielding “eshays” and a shady resident with a criminal past.

Neighbours in a Belmont court with one way in and out say their usually quiet and friendly neighbourhood has been destroyed in less than a year by a nightmare tenant.

It comes after a frightening incident on August 5 when a vehicle was allegedly “fire bombed” with what appeared to be a “molotov cocktail.”

At least three Fire Rescue Victoria units and police were called to the alleged arson attack on Edith Court at about 11.30pm, with the street closed down for up to an hour.

“I was sound asleep and I didn’t know whether I was dreaming or not,” one resident, who did not want to be named for fear or reprisal, said.

“I walked outside and I could see a carport ablaze.

“It was a little molotov cocktail or something thrown into the car.”

A spokesman from FRV confirmed they were called to the incident, which was referred to police for investigation.

Victoria Police has not commented on the investigation.

It is just one of a myriad of grim events that has raised tensions on this once peaceful strip.

The Geelong Advertiser attended the court on Friday and found a home with boarded up windows and cars without license plates.

“The woman who lives there drives the car all the time without plates,” another resident said.

“It’s an absolute nightmare, I’ve seen that many drug deals it’s not funny anymore.”

“Incidents include people with knives, drugs, screaming, property damage, stealing of cars and break-ins.”

The young mother said she has been forced to seek medical assistance as a result of “constant fear.”

“I even have a letter from my doctor that I physically and emotionally can’t handle it anymore,” she said.

“I’m not the same person.

“This court is a beautiful neighbourhood that has been ruined and I fear for mine and my son’s safety.”

A number of homeowners have written to Geelong MP Christine Couzens asking for help, and made several complaints to the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) about the tenant.

The Geelong Advertiser can reveal the woman in question has an extensive criminal history.

“I have spoken to the department of housing, I have written to our MP, I have spoken to the police multiple times and no one is doing anything,” another woman said.

“And it’s not just me, it’s most people on the street and everyone has had enough.

“These little eshays come in and all run around in little packs.

“I have watched drug deals being done two metres in front of me.”

The DFFH and Ms Couzens has been contacted for comment.
