Armstrong Creek woman, 46, arrested after hitting man at St Catherine of Siena Catholic School

An 46-year-old Armstrong Creek woman who drove her car into man in front of shocked onlookers at a Geelong school is expected to be charged.

A woman is expected to be charged with driving offences after allegedly deliberately driving her car into an unsuspecting male at a Geelong catholic school with children on board.

St Catherine of Siena Catholic School principal, Donna Bryce, told the Geelong Advertiser students, staff and families who saw the incident on Monday afternoon were being offered counselling.

Victoria Police were called to the school, on Warralily Boulevard in Armstrong Creek, about 3.30pm Monday after reports the pedestrian had been struck by the vehicle.

A 46-year-old Armstrong Creek woman was arrested at the scene and has been released on summons.

She is expected to be charged with driving offences and will face court at a later date.

The man was taken to Geelong hospital and treated for minor injuries.

One witness described the scene during the busy pick-up time just outside the school grounds as “chaotic” and “traumatic”.

Ms Bryce said no-one was seriously injured and police responded quickly.

“Support and counselling have been offered to students, staff and families who witnessed, or may have been impacted by this incident,” she said.

“The safety and wellbeing of all members of the school community is always our highest priority.”

The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault are still being investigated with the parties known to each other.
