The heartbroken mother of a murdered young Geelong father has confronted his killer in court, looking him in the eyes and telling him “you knew what you were doing”.

Two weeks ago a jury found Ashley Feethamguilty of murdering Dylan Bond and intentionally causing serious injury to his brother Heath. On Monday, the Supreme Court heard emotional statements from the men’s mother, Fiona Holowood.

Ms Holowood described the harrowing April 2021 phone call telling her both her sons had been stabbed. She also told of the shattering moment she learned of Dylan’s death.

“The doctor came in to let us know the seriousness Heath was in and that he would be going into surgery,” Ms Holowood told the court.

“A detective entered the family room. She informed us Dylan had passed away.

“From that moment, I started to feel like I, too, had left my body and was looking back at myself screaming and shaking and crying uncontrollably.”

Ms Holowood said the day Dylan was born it had been “love at first sight”.

“Our bond was special, one of a kind. One that every parent could only hope for,” she said.

“I was one of the fortunate ones to have a best friend and a rock as a son.”

Grace Wilson, Dylan’s wife, said he was her entire world.

“He was my biggest support person, the love of my life. He was one incredible man with a big smile and a large laugh,” she said.

Ms Wilson described their wedding – just nine weeks before his death – as “the most magical day”.

When she learned her husband had died, she said her world “came crashing down”.

“I will never get the family I always dreamt off, and never got a chance to say goodbye,” she said.

Heath said he and Dylan had become best friends in the years before his death.

He told the court he experienced a “lot of downs and ups”.

Heath also described Feetham as a “f---ing psycho” and “one dumb c---”.

Throughout the course of the trial, the court heard details of the stabbing murder in Thomson on April 26, 2021.

Crown prosecutor Mark Gibson said Feetham had access to a knife, and knew Heath and Dylan were going to the house in Thomson.

Mr Gibson said Feetham stabbed Heath first and Dylan moments after.

Before the attack, the court heard Feetham messaged Dylan saying: “You do realise there are kids there and I will have no remorse in chucking you in your own boot”.

Feetham’s lawyer told the court in the plea hearing that his client acted in excessive self defence and was remorseful for his actions.

Feetham will be sentenced on November 23.
