AUSTRALIA’S most famous insider trader Oliver Curtis has been welcomed home with squeals of delight from his two young children this morning.
Walking out of Cooma jail to a throng of press, Mr Curtis was led by a security guard into a waiting black Range Rover that whisked him off to the airport where his publicist wife Roxy Jacenko and the couple’s two children Pixie, 5, and Hunter, 2, were waiting in a chartered plane.
Ms Jacenko has admitted previously she didn’t tell the children their father was behind bars but was “away on business” for the past year.
Although Ms Jacenko was not spotted on the private plane as it touched down in Cooma, the PR queen was seen when the young family landed in Sydney airport.
Jacenko, wearing black leather pants and a black top bared at the back, was all smiles as they were ushered into a waiting vehicle at the airport.
They were then driven to their North Bondi home just before midday, where they were eventually joined by other family members.
Earlier in the day, a large bouquet of helium balloons emblazoned with “Welcome home daddy” were delivered to the property.
Curtis, 31, emerged from Cooma jail at 8.45am today, on a bitterly cold morning which had seen some snow. He looked thin and startled by the attention.
He was jailed in June 2016 for an insider trading scam hatched with a former private school friend that made more than $1.4m in profits.
Found guilty in the NSW Supreme Court for conspiring to commit insider trading on 45 separate occasions, Curtis received a maximum sentence of two years, with a minimum of 12 months.
