A mother thanked emergency services for finding her daughter safe and well after she was lost in the Grampians overnight.

Emergency services, including a police search wing, had been looking for the 22-year-old since she went missing while hiking alone near Halls Gap about 8pm on Thursday.

Other hikers heard her calling for help on Friday morning, helping to narrow the search.

The hiker, who spent the night in a cave, managed to find her way back to a path near Mount Rosea where the SES was looking for her about 5pm on Friday.
