Teen hurt in cliff fall at Barwon Heads

Emergency crews have been called in to rescue a 14-year-old boy who fell from a cliff face at Barwon Heads.

A 14-year-old boy was rescued by an emergency helicopter after being stuck on a cliff in Barwon Heads on Saturday afternoon.

He and two friends had been throwing rocks into the water at the Barwon Heads Lookout near Bluff Rd when the teen fell up to 20m.

The teen’s friends alerted emergency services before making their own way down to the cliff, entering the water and wading out to pull their unconscious counterpart from the sea.

His fall required intervention from Ambulance Victoria, SES, fire brigade, police and water rescue services and attracted an audience of several hundred spectators.

The teen’s precarious angle on the cliff face required helicopter assistance and emergency services worked to get him back to safety shortly after 6pm.

He was flown to hospital by air ambulance in what is believed to be a serious condition.
