DANE Swan produced an impressive return to football for Westmeadows in the Essendon District Football League this afternoon.
The 34-year-old, who retired from the top level in 2016 after 258 games for Collingwood, spent time in the forward half and midfield against Tullamarine, racking up 24 touches, four marks and four clearances.
Swan had an immediate impact in front of a bumper crowd at Willowbrook Reserve, with each possession greeted by warm applause, with Sam Newman and Shane Crawford among the big names in the crowd..

However, Swan’s presence failed to lift Westmeadows, which went down by 40 points, 15.15 (105) to 10.5 (65).
But Swan did give the Tigers a massive boost financially and will back up against Oak Park on Anzac Day.
It is understood Richmond superstar and reigning Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin will be in attendance at that match.
Swan’s much-publicised appearance was almost put on hold because of an insurance issue before he earned a temporary reprieve.
