Collingwood’s new star netballer Geva Mentor isn’t hard to miss with her tall frame, British accent and trademark plaits.
And when she steps out on court for the club’s opening Super Netball match, in her corner will be no.1 fan and partner, Collingwood’s big American Mason Cox.
Between them they share over four metres of height.

“The plaits make me look a bit meaner, a bit tougher, because I smile all the time,’’ Mentor said.
“We’re hard to miss. We support each other as much as we can and now hopefully it flips over.”
Mentor was at her first Anzac Day match on Thursday, along with fellow Collingwood netballer Kim Ravaillion, the partner of Magpies midfielder Adam Treloar.
They all share training facilities at the Holden Centre.
Mentor, who has lived in Australia for the past 11 years, has been recruited from the Sunshine Coast to Collingwood this season on a two-year deal as co-captain.
She and Cox are unlikely to step into the spotlight as a socialite couple, but they could certainly attract attention as evidenced when they attended the Grand Prix together last month.
They understand the demands of elite sport and both have a passion for travel.
“It works out in the mornings, we come in together and then go our separate ways,’’ Mentor said.
“It’s funny how you do have your routines and luckily our seasons match up quite nicely and I can give him his space and he can give me my space.
“We are enjoying our time and I think come off-season again you’ll find us off gallivanting around the world somewhere else.”
Mentor and Ravaillion are quite private but have also spoken together on Triple M radio where Ravaillion confirmed Treloar has many superstitions and likes to watch The Simpsons.
“At the moment we go to the footy because we can,’’ she said. “It’s been really exciting to watch them go so well.”
Mentor revealed she hoped to take Cox with her to Britain to meet the Queen after being awarded a CBE — Commander of the British Empire.
“It was quite a funny morning when I got it,’’ she said.
“I got a phone call from the deputy British high commissioner in Canberra and... I had to keep it embargoed, I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone.
“I rang my mum and I was around at Mason’s and I thought I’d tell him and he had no idea what it was. It literally went through one ear and out the other and I thought I’m safe here.
“I’m looking forward to when I go to receive that taking Mason with me and showing him around Buckingham Palace and what it’s all about.”
Mentor has dual citizenship and could play for Australia, but as captain of the British side she has already led the team to much success.
“Plus I don’t think my mum would talk to me again,’’ she said.
