Collingwood Football Club has distanced itself from former cheer squad figurehead Jeff “Joffa” Corfe and called on him to apologise for his social media post about Indian workers.
Corfe sparked a heated backlash on Twitter when he wrote in response to the aged care royal commission final report: “Get rid off all Indian workers in aged care might be a start”.
The diehard Magpie supporter was criticised by other Twitter users who described the remark as “racist” and “uneducated”.
Collingwood condemned Corfe’s post and said he was no longer a member of the club.
“As such we cannot stand by his comments of last night (Tuesday). We condemn them and ask him to consider the hurt he has caused and an appropriate apology,” the club tweeted on Wednesday night.
Joffa Corfe is not a member of the Collingwood Football Club but has had a long association with our organisation.

Corfe, who was well known for wearing a gold jacket, was unrepentant, writing: “To the losers out there in Twitter world feel free to copy and paste anything I say everywhere and anywhere … I don’t care I won’t be silenced by the bulls--- minority pretending to be the do gooders I’ll have the balls to say and tweet whatever I want. Thank you”.
When approached by the Herald Sun on Wednesday night, Corfe declined to comment on the Twitter controversy but said “I wish the club all the very best this coming season against all odds I reckon we’ll finish top four.”
On Tuesday morning, hours before his post about aged care, Corfe tweeted: “The slur that everyone associated with Collingwood is racist or guilty of racism will be with us for a long time, it is heartbreaking to say the least.”
