Prisoner Philemon William Warradoo escapes from Lotus Glen Correction Centre near Cairns

A manhunt has been called off after an escaped prisoner was returned to the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre this afternoon.

The prisoner that escaped from Lotus Glen Correctional Centre on Friday has been returned to custody.

Queensland Corrective Services announced Philemon William Warradoo had been located after absconding from the low custody farm this morning.

Police and Queensland Corrective Services officers sought public assistance at 10.30am in their search for the outstanding prisoner, who is 30 years old.

He had a tattoo of the number 92 on his left jaw, a small scar above his left eyebrow, and a lettering tattoo on his upper chest.

He was serving one year for common assault.

Police advised not to approach him and to call triple-0 if he is sighted.

He was described as 174cm tall, 68kg, with a dark complexion, brown eyes and black hair.

The last time a prisoner escaped from the low security prison farm was in 2020 when Anthony William Ramsay, who was sentenced for robbery with violence, escaped in a car stolen from Mareeba.
