THEIR crimes, chilling and cold blooded, earned them a cell in the overcrowded confines of Lotus Glen Correctional Centre.
Now one of the worst, James Roughan, has made a bid for parole that has stunned his victim’s grief stricken family.
Roughan was 27 when he and Christopher Clark Jones, 23, horrifically killed 17- year-old Morgan Jay Shepherd at Roughan’s Sandgate home 15 years ago.
The pair stabbed the youth 133 times, decapitated him and then sickeningly used his head as a puppet and a bowling ball.
Jones has since been released on parole and deported back to his native UK.
At the time, Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said the murder was one of the most “abhorrent crimes” he had ever seen.
The family of the murdered teen are outraged that Roughan could be released into the community.
“He has a previous pattern of violent behaviour, sadistic tendencies and blatant disregard for human life,” Morgan Shepherd’s sister Shannon said.

No less shocking than the gruesome horror that Rougan inflicted on the youth were the deviant acts inflicted by serial rapist Mark Little, also locked up in the Mareeba prison.
Little, then 46, wore a black balaclava, reflective sunglasses and a black hoodie when, in November 2015, he tied and gagged a woman in her motel room at the Bohemia Resort, in Cairns North.
He then launched a brutal sexual attack on her.
Little threatened to kill his victim, put a pillowcase over her head, bound and gagged her and then raped her multiple times.
The woman, who cannot be named, told the Cairns District Court after Little’s sentencing, that the incident had had a dramatic impact on her.
“I thought I was going to die and I was scared for my life,” she said.
“I haven’t been able to settle down.
“Now I’ve found that since this occurred, some movies create flashbacks especially if the movie has a balaclava or a rape victim in it.”
In the hierarchy of depravity, Klaus Andres ranks highly.
The German native made public appeals to help find his missing wife Li Ping Cao in 2011.
But she was dead, her body dissolved in a wheelie bin full of hydrochloric acid that was bought with the murdered woman’s credit card.
All that police could find of her were 10 porcelain teeth in a drain outside the couple’s suburban Cairns home.
Andres denied killing his wife. In 2014, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
MARK LITTLE
Dangerous predator and sexual deviant Mark Little has a terrifying modus operandi.
Donning a balaclava and armed with a knife he attacks forces his way into a woman’s home and sexually assaults them.
Most recently he was handed a 16-year jail sentence in 2017, which he is currently serving in Lotus Glen, for the brutal rape of a Cairns sex worker in a motel room.
He tied up and gagged the woman in November 2015 while wearing a black balaclava, reflective sunglasses and a black hoodie.
Holding a knife to her throat, he threatened to kill her while raping her.
This was the 51-year-old’s fourth conviction for sexual offending, having abused three other women during the 90s.
The offender is no relation and has no link to Dr Mark Little who works at Cairns Hospital.
TERRY LEE VAN GUILK
“If the kid wasn’t there it would have been a lot worse.”
These were the chilling words penned by New South Welshman Terry Lee Van Guilk from his Lotus Glen cell.
Almost six years ago the 44-year-old flew to Cairns with one reason – to hold up a local business man who he knew would becarrying cash and had collections of cars and weapons
He confronted the man’s 11-year-old boy in their Westcourt backyard and held a knife to his throat before the boy managed to wrestle away and his brave father fought back.
It took another four years to bring him to justice
He was given a seven-year jail sentence last year with experienced Judge Anthony Rafter even shocked by the brutality. “Idon’t think I’ve ever seen a case where an 11-year-old boy or a child has been treated in this manner,” he said.
LIAM KERINDUN
The then-teenager was just six days out on parole when he raped and attempted to rape two women in bushes behind Cairns Central in 2016.
His victims were both Asian tourists, from Korea and Japan, aged in their 20s, and were both walking home when Kerindun, 18at the time, attacked them in separate incidents just minutes apart.
The younger Korean woman was assaulted for almost two hours, even pretending to be dead at one stage to try and end the attack, while the 28-year-old Japanese woman managed to escape and alert a passer-by.
Kerindun, who had a criminal history dating back to age 10, was jailed for 11 years in 2018 after pleading guilty to 13 charges.
He will have to serve 80 per cent of the sentence after being classified a serious violent offender.
KLAUS ANDRES
What Austrian-born Andres did to his wife Li Ping Cao was nothing short of a horror movie script.
Andres was 69 when he killed the 42-year-old in their suburban Brinsmead home, then dissolved her body in a wheelie bin full of acid.
The hideous process took several days before he tipped her remains down his driveway, into the gutter and a storm water drain.
Clever investigators pieced together what happened to the Chinese woman after locating several of her false porcelain teeth while sifting through the drain.
Creepy surveillance videos showed Andres in Bunnings beforehand purchasing large containers of hydrochloric acid.
He was jailed for life in late 2013 with police subsequently describing him as a genuine “psychopath”.
Andres, now 76, also lost a case last year after claiming to have been bashed in prison by a Spanish boxing champion he had been “antagonising” with racist slurs.
