Police probe into suspicious death on Tablelands

Police are on the scene where a woman with a wound to her abdomen was declared dead in a Tablelands town this morning.

Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 65-year-old woman in Atherton this morning.

About 8.30am, emergency services were called to an address on Gordon St where a woman was located with a wound to her abdomen.

She was declared dead at the scene.

A crime scene has been declared while detectives work to determine the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death.

Investigations are ongoing.

Detective are also investigating a house fire in Atherton on Friday April 28.

Police and emergency services were called to the Nye St blaze just after 10am, with one bedroom extensively damaged by fire.

All occupants were accounted for and no one was injured.

Police are calling for witnesses, especially those with dashcam or CCTV captured in the area between 9am-11am, to come forward.
