Every Anzac Day service in Far North Qld 2024

Thousands of people across Far North Queensland will commemorate Anzac Day with a series of services.

Thousands of people across Far North Queensland will commemorate Anzac Day with a series of services.

Here are the services across the region.

Cairns and Northern Beaches

Cairns: Dawn Service starts at the Cenotaph on the Esplanade at 5.30am. Services parade starts 7.30am at Fogarty Park, with a march heading to the Esplanade past the RSL. Commemorative service to take place about 8am at the cenotaph.

The Esplanade services will also be live-streamed from Cairns Council’s Facebook and YouTube pages, beginning at 5.25am.

Edge Hill: Dawn Service starting from 4am at the Martyn Street Cemetery.

Edmonton: Dawn Service parade starting from 5am at Fuller Park cenotaph, followed by a march to the Fuller Sport Club.

Gordonvale: Dawn parade beginning at 3.30am with gunfire breakfast at Gordonvale RSL Annex (next to the tennis court in Norman Park). Dawn Service begins at 4.15am at Norman Park cenotaph. Commemorative service starts at 9am with a march from Gordonvale State Primary School to Norman Park, followed by service in Norman Park.

Stratford: No Dawn Service. Commemorative service starts from 9.30am in Magazine Street.

Trinity Beach: Dawn parade starts at 5.30am at Trinity Beach memorial.

Yarrabah: Parade at 930am at Yarrabah RSL.

Yorkeys Knob: Commemorative service at 8.30am at Yorkeys Knob Boating Club.

Cassowary Coast

Innisfail: Dawn Service at 5.25am, morning service at 9.30am. Both at Jack Fossey Park cenotaph.

El Arish: Dawn Service begins at 4am at the Community Hall, followed by parade to El Arish cenotaph.

Tully: Dawn Service at 5.30am at Tully Leagues Club. Morning service at 9.40am at corner of Still Street and Butler Street

Cardwell: Dawn Service at 5.45am, morning service at 10.45am. Both at Cardwell cenotaph.

Kurrimine Beach: Dawn Service at 6am at Kurrimine Beach. Morning service at 9.45am, begins with assembly at Foster Street near King Reef for march with local schools.

Five sailors from HMAS Cairns will embark on a commemorative trek along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. Leading Seaman Sumeet Sewak, Leading Seaman Liv Harrison, Able Seaman Logan Trigg, Sub Leitenent Katelyn Kirshaw and Petty Officer Kerryn Seaborn will fly out of Cairns on Wednesday and begin their trek along the historic trail on Anzac Day. Douglas Shire

Port Douglas: Commemorative march begins at Port Douglas Village in Macrossan Street at 10am, followed by march then service at 10.30 at Port Douglas cenotaph.

Mossman: Dawn Service from 5.15am at Mossman cenotaph.

Cow Bay: Dawn march meeting at My Pathways car park (1475 Cape Tribulation) at 4.35am and march to the Cow Bay Cenotaph. Official proceedings to begin at 5am.

Tablelands

Atherton: Dawn Service starts at 4.15am at Atherton Remembrance Park. War graves observance at 8.45am at the War Cemetery. Cenotaph service and march begins with assembly at Atherton Men’s Shed at 10.25am, service starts at 11am.

Evelyn: War memorial service at 6.20am on Jonsson Road, free bus departing Ravenshoe RSL Hall at 6am.

Herberton: Dawn Service at 4.30am at the cenotaph. Padre White graveside service at Herberton Cemetery at 9am. Cenotaph service and march begins 9.45am with assembly at the Royal Hotel. Service starts at 10.05am.

Malanda: Dawn Service and march begins 4am at Eacham Memorial Gates, assemble at Malanda Hotel. Commemorative service and march begins 8.45am at Eacham Memorial Gates.

Millaa Millaa: Dawn Service and march at 4.15am at the RSL Hall. Commemorative service and march at 10.15am at the RSL Hall. Service starts at 10.45am.

Mount Garnet: Cenotaph service at 5.30am followed by a gunfire breakfast at Town Hall. Cenotaph service and march at 9.30am, assemble at Mount Garnet Hotel.

Ravenshoe: Cenotaph service and march at 9.30am, assemble at Highland Bakery. Service starts at 10am.

Yungaburra: Service at Afghanistan Ave of Honour at 5.30am followed by gunfire breakfast at Yungaburra Hotel. Cenotaph service and march starts at 7.45am, assemble near Eacham Road opposite Foodworks. Service begins at 8am.
