A funeral will soon be held to remember Scott Duff, a much-loved Cairns senior constable who was found dead after a week-long search.
The chapel service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 76 Maher Rd in Gordonvale.
Commencing at 10am, the funeral will also be livestreamed on the Heritage Brady Funeral Directors website.
Mr Duff’s family, relatives, friends, work colleagues and associates are invited to attend.
The 50-year-old senior constable is survived by his wife Kylie and two sons, Daimon and Laith.
His body was tragically found on April 15, a week after he was last seen in the Edmonton area near his home.
The major search effort involved police from Townsville and southeast Queensland, SES volunteers, the Rescue 510 helicopter, drones and Tactical Crime Squad.
Mr Duff had been a serving Queensland police officer for two decades and his disappearance on April 8 was described as “very out of character”.
As well as working in Edmonton and Gordonvale, Mr Duff worked as a police officer in Yarrabah.
Queensland Police Union Far North rep Dion Readman said Mr Duff was well-liked within the force.
“He was an extremely well respected, much loved member of the police community,” Mr Readman said.
“Not just the police community, but the wider community. This is a big loss for everyone in the southern corridor.”
There were no suspicious circumstances over his death.
