VETERAN footy commentator Brian Taylor was met with awkward silence from his fellow commentators last night after a jab that threw Wayne Carey under the bus.
During the third quarter of Port Adelaide’s huge win over Carlton on Friday night, Taylor produced a line that has been interpreted by many footy fans to be a stab at Carey’s relationship scandals and his reported infidelities.
The Kangaroos legend infamously had an affair with former teammate Anthony Stevens’ now ex-wife Kelli which ultimately resulted in him finishing his playing career at the Adelaide Crows.
Carey had a shocker in commentary when he claimed Port star Robbie Gray and goal sneak Sam Gray are brothers — which they are not.
Taylor then let Carey have it, refusing to move on from Carey’s clanger as the game progressed.
“Duck’s clawed into the hole and I’m not helping him get out of it,” Taylor told Channel 7.
Carey responded: “I meant the lesser Gray”.
That’s when Taylor dropped a bomb, creating an awkward moment of silence when all his fellow commentators stopped talking at the same time after previously chinwagging like they were at their local pub.
“Mind you it’s not the only hole he’s been in,” Taylor said.
“He’s been in a few in his career.”
