A senior police officer has been found dead inside a police station in Sydney’s inner-east.
The 52-year-old man was discovered at the Sydney Police Centre in Surry Hills earlier this morning.
Initial inquiries suggest his death is not being treated as suspicious.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb visited the station following the incident which she described as a “very sad day” for the force, in a statement obtained by NewsWire.
“Our hearts go out to the officer’s family,” the statement read.
“Every support will be made available for staff and family impacted by this tragedy.”
A critical incident investigation is underway.
