A 13-year-old Manoora boy has been charged with taking part in the shocking assault of an elderly man at a Pease Street shopping centre.
The boy was allegedly part of a group which threw bottles and rocks at the 66-year-old man on March 18, causing him to fall and injure his elbow.
Police say the boy was also involved with a string of other crimes in early April, including using a stolen car to steal fuel and trying to break into multiple homes.
The boy was arrested at a Patula Cl address on April 12 and has been charged with two counts of attempted entry, and one count each of serious assault of a person over 60, unlawful use of motor vehicle, and stealing.
He will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
