Best & worst dressed of the week: Lady Gaga’s flamingo dress and Bebe Rexha’s silver nappy

LADY Gaga’s feathered pink wonder at the Venice Film Festival this week won instant fame as ‘The Flamingo’, while another singer lost points for her silver nappy. More best and worst dressed of the week here.

Nicki Minaj and Cardi B got into a war of words at New York Fashion Week

WHEN a dress earns a nickname, you know it’s top of the fashion heap. Lady Gaga’s feathered pink wonder at the Venice Film Festival this week won instant fame as ‘The Flamingo’.

Extravagant barely does this feathered creation justice.

This Valentino Haute Couture gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli is fantasy dressing at its zenith. And it could only be worn on the glamorous European film festival circuit where more is definitely more.

Palest of pink feathers layer up to create a plumage effect so dreamy and other-worldly that we can hardly breathe when studying it.

Dubbed ‘The Flamingo’ it’s easy to see why the singer-turned-film star (for her role with the planet’s hottest man Bradley Cooper in the A Star is Born remake) commanded red carpet attention — even when the rain began to fall.

But the elegance did not begin and end there.

At an earlier photo call for the film — she and Cooper arriving by canal boat (of course), blowing kisses to the fans — Gaga again wowed in a low-cut Marilyn Monroe style white dress.

She looked every bit the leading lady in the vintage Azzedine Alaia dress, while her leading man was head-to-toe Prada.

Gaga wasn’t the only glamazon on the carpet at the festival opening days.

Our own Cate B dished up a double delight of Armani Prive gowns — the same, but different.

Pale pink feathers featured on gown No.1 worn to the A Star is Born premiere, so the Aussie actor would’ve looked like she was working in with Gaga’s theme.

But the rest of the gown was pure old Hollywood glam — black velvet with a plunging scalloped neckline and fishtail hemline topped off with some Chopard sparklers.

Gown No.2 was also black velvet but this time with a more slinky vibe. Gold one-sleeved figure-hugging number was ultra glam.

Cate chose sapphire and diamond earrings from her friends at Chopard who appear to have picked up the whole Venice tab.

There are few trends more dramatic than pleats.

So imagine the impact when incorporated head to toe in a tangerine orange gown and then worn by a statuesque supermodel — one of THE originals.

This Calvin Klein Grecian-style gown has been designed by their new recruit and Dior refugee, Raf Simons.

Love the plunging neckline and floor-sweeping skirt, but mostly it’s about the pleats.

Swoon.

This week’s picks are like a Venn diagram — pleats, pale pink, floor-grazers …

Aussie actor is springlike and uber feminine in another Raf Simons creation for Calvin Klein.

But on this occasion he has used a soft trail of embroidered flowers and adorable puffy sleeves to create the pretty as a picture gown.

Naomi glows up with natural make-up to complete the fresh theme.

Singing actor and all round legend looks like she could preside over a Supreme Court hearing in this garb.

Billowing cape is a confusing addition to an otherwise rock chick kind of get-up — motif T-shirt, leather pants and some fierce-looking heels.

All rise, fashion court is now in session.

Things can look dramatically different on the catwalk.

We think that’s what the Suspiria star found this week when she rocked up to a photo call in these feather-trimmed Miu Miu print pants.

They are wild and potentially fabulous if only the hem decoration was in any other colour than beige — seriously, who thought this was a good idea.

The Blonds created this mess and a blonde shall be responsible for drawing our attention to it.

The American couturiers who only make to order and do not own a retail store are well-known for their whackjob outfits, so if you’re wanting to make a splash on the red carpet this kind of thing is perfect.

Singer Bebe seems to be nonplussed however, and rightly so. The metal and sequin bodice with nappy is not very flattering and the thigh-high pull-on boots only add to the gladiator-style shemozzle.

Score: 2/10
