A battered dog has been found tied to a tree in Diggers Rest suffering from severe injuries.
The American Bulldog, named Bella, is believed to have had injuries that were inflicted maliciously and was taken to an emergency vet to be treated with a number of blood transfusions after a member of the public contacted the RSPCA.
An RSPCA Victoria team leader said it was a horrific act of cruelty and that Bella was lucky to be alive.
“We found Bella near Jackson’s Creek behind a small hill, nestled in the bushes littered with garbage and debris,” the inspector said.
“She’s clearly suffered abuse and has been treated in a way no animal deserves.”
RSPCA Victoria believes Bella may have been dumped sometime between Friday, November 8, and Sunday, November 17. It is not known who Bella’s owner is.
“We are asking anyone who recognises Bella or has information about this incident to make a report and please come forward to help us identify the person or persons responsible for this act of cruelty.”
Bella is said to be recovering and good-natured.
“Despite the immense trauma she has been through she’s an extremely sweet dog,” she said.
“Far too forgiving considering her experience.”
