A Christmas comedy special is set to crack up Alice Springs and ‘bring a bit of lightness’ to the town. Find out who is performing.

A Christmas comedy special is making its way to the Red Centre for an evening of belly laughs and knee-slappers.

Darwin comedian and emcee Amy Hetherington said the show would “bring a bit of lightness” to Alice Springs after a hard year.

The special will run in the Totem Theatre at 6pm and 8.30pm on December 16 for 90 minutes each.

“It’s an opportunity for people to have those catch-ups, wind-ups, friend get-togethers with a Christmassy edge,” she said.

Ms Hetherington said the line-up would be “epic”.

Headline act and Melbourne comic Aidan Jones recently filmed a TV special and will be visiting Alice Springs on tour.

Ms Hetherington said Jones was an excellent storyteller with plenty to share.

Ms Hetherington said Darwin comedian Garry O’Sullivan would be bring a “dry and clever” sense of humour to the stage.

Biddy O’Loughlin will return to the Alice Springs stage “with a baby on her hip”.

Ms Hetherington said she hoped to bring a “high energy” and “silly” atmosphere to the stage as emcee.

“There’ll be something for everyone,” she said.

Two local comics will also try their hand at stand-up comedy for five minutes each.

Oscar McClean and his mum reached out to Ms Hetherington to have a go at working the Alice Springs crowd.

Sam Zhang Yue has worked with Ms Hetherington before.

“Sam did a workshop with me in Darwin a few years ago and then moved to Alice,” she said.
