A NEW sketch parodying the plight of artists as a result of COVID-19 has been released by Alice Springs filmmaker Biddy O’Loughlin.

Filmed in accordance with Northern Territory pandemic restrictions of less than ten people, Ms O’Loughlin enlisted the talents of her siblings and local cinematographer, Shane Mulcahy - making ‘Lockdown’ in her Dad’s shed.

“Most people working in the arts aren’t eligible for the JobKeeper payment so it’s a really tricky time for people who usually get back-to-back work,” Ms O’Loughlin explained.

Appropriating ‘Centrelink’ with ‘Cashfordrink,’ the sketch plays on the ignorance that people on the dole are “just bludging alcoholics.”

“I mean, don’t get me wrong. Some of us are,” Ms O’Loughlin said, with tongue in cheek.
