AFL Round 3: Everything you need to know about this week’s matches

AFTER a stellar long weekend of footy it’s time for Round 3. Here’s everything you need to know including tickets, transport, and which games let the kids have a kick after the match.

AFTER a stellar Easter weekend for AFL, it’s time to get ready for Round 3 of the footy.

Here’s everything you need to know including tickets, transport, when and where to watch on TV and which games let the kids have a kick after the match.

Round 3 kicks off on Friday, April 6 with the Carlton Blues taking on the Collingwood Magpies.

The Herald Sun’s AFL experts will be live-blogging every game this season.

FRIDAY

HOW TO GET THERE

CAR: Limited public parking will be available in Yarra Park, subject to weather conditions.

TRAIN: Jolimont and Richmond are the nearest stations to the MCG.

From the city to Jolimont take: Hurstbridge; Epping lines.

From the city to Richmond: Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines.

V/Line trains go to Southern Cross Station. Continue on to Flinders St and change to one of the above lines, or catch a tram.

TRAM: Routes 75 (City-Vermont South) and 48 (City-North Balwyn) service the MCG with route 70 (City-Wattle Park) stopping a short distance away.

BUS: Route 246 stops close to the venue.

TRANSPORT DISRUPTIONS

TRAINS: Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from Tuesday, April 3 to Sunday, April 15, first train to last train.

HOW TO GET THERE

CAR: Parking is limited and public transport is advised.

TRAIN: MAC Footy Express trains are free with your game ticket. They will be running from Belair, Gawler, Outer Harbor & Grange and Seaford & Tonsley.

TRAM: MAC Footy Express trams are free with your game ticket. They will run from Glenelg to the venue.

BUS: MAC Footy Express buses are free with your game tickets. 29 bus routes will be servicing the venue, check online for further details.

HOW TO GET THERE

CAR: There is only ACROD parking available, with no spaces guaranteed. You will also have to register for ACROD parking on the Optus Stadium website.

BUS: The stadium features a purpose built bus station, serviced by routes 650, 652, 653, 654, 656, 657, 658, 659 and 661.

TRAIN: The stadium also has a train station, with two concourses. The western concourse is serviced by the Joondalup and Fremantle lines while the eastern concourse is serviced by the Armadale line. Visitors travelling on the Midland line can catch the train to nearby East Perth Station and walk over the Windan Bridge for stadium access.

HOW TO GET THERE

CAR: Parking is available at $25 per car. Entry is via Driver Avenue.

TRAIN: Take the train to Central station and either catch a bus or walk the short distance to the grounds.

BUS: Express shuttle buses will be running from Eddy Avenue and Young Street. Regular bus service routes 339, 372, 374, 376, 391, 393 and 395 also service the stadium. See the Transport NSW website for full details.

FERRY: Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a shuttle bus running direct to Moore Park leaving from Young Street.

TRANSPORT DISRUPTIONS

TRAINS: From 2am on April 7 until 2am April 9 trackwork is scheduled to take place on the City Circle Line. Buses will replace trains between Central and Wynard via Museum.
