Woolworths worker reveals ‘game-changing’ self-serve checkout hack

Customers are going crazy for this amazing Woolworths self-serve checkout hack that will change the way you shop.

A Woolworths worker has sent customers into a frenzy after revealing a “game-changing” self-serve checkout hack.

Liam Kirley, who manages the supermarket’s TikTok page, took to the platform for another instalment in his supermarket hack series, with the videos aiming to educate customers on some little-known tips and tricks for shopping at Woolworths.

He revealed five different hacks to make the experience easier, with the final tip being the most talked about in the comments.

Many customers will place all their scanned groceries next to the self-checkout, in fear of hearing the dreaded “return item to bagging area” taunt.

However, the worker revealed with the new machines that you are now able to place your groceries back in the trolley after they have been scanned.

“If you place an item in the bagging area, you can pick it up and put it back in your trolley if the light is green” he said.

“A good rule of thumb is, if the light is green, you can scan the next product.”

Many people in the comments said this tip was “game-changing” and “great to know”.

“OMG this is going to be so useful!” one person said.

“The things you learn. Thanks!”

“Can’t wait to try this,” another commented.

“Such a handy tip.”

Woolworths customers were also surprised at his other tips, including being able to call for help from the touch screen, and being able to roll your trolley into the self-serve area.

“To start off, you can roll your trolley into the self-serve bay,” he said.

“If you don’t have a bag, you can press welcome or scan your first product.

“Hack number two. If you have more than one product, leave it in the trolley. Our team can count it and scan it for you.

“Hack three. Many of our machines now try to guess what fruit or veggies you have on the scales. Place all the same produce on the scale, and go to fruit and veg, and you'll see what the scanner thinks it is.

“And if you need any help, press the assistance button and we will be with you shortly.”

The advice comes after one Woolworths customer revealed how she scored a heap of products for “free” thanks to a little-known hack.

The woman took to Markdown Addicts Australia’s Facebook page to reveal how she scored the array of products from Woolworths – and she didn’t pay a cent.

“All FREE! So I only buy half-price items and always boost my buys when they come up on my app,” the woman said.

“In one month I got $50 rewards and worked out the best value to get all half-price items I wanted.

“So these were all half-price and ended up free.”

The Woolworths Boosters program is attached to the Everyday Rewards program.

All customers have to do is download the app, subscribe to boosters and simply click boost so that you can earn more points.

After that, customers either order the products online or head into a store to purchase the products, while scanning their Everyday Rewards card.
