Victorian travel guru Catriona Rowntree has delivered a masterclass in how to dress for the pointy end of the plane, donning a “easy but chic” outfit she said showed “I belong in business class!”.
Rowntree — who lives on a farm in Little River between Melbourne and Geelong — states on her Facebook page she is “Australia’s Most Travelled Woman” after more than 25 years at the helm of popular travel show Getaway.
On Thursday morning Rowntreesaid that after airport security “made us get rid of belts”, airport lounges banned activewear and with airline staff rarely offering to hang coats anymore, she had come up with “a perfect travel outfit” for flying business class.
Rowntree said she had developed her ideal outfit after collaborating with French-inspired women’s fashion brand Blue Illusion, and “after sitting on planes and taking notes of what everyone was wearing”.
As a result, she said her travel wardrobe comprised a dark pant that didn’t crush, require a belt or show food stains and a coat that could be “stuffed” into the overhead plane locker, “because when was the last time someone offered to hang your coat?”
Slip-on shoes were also important.
“It’s gotta be easy but chic enough to show ‘I belong in travel class! It’s a minefield that can be made a pleasure,” Rowntree said, posting a photo of herself looking stylish and relaxed on cream leather in spacious business class.
Blue Illusion posted on its website it was “thrilled to introduce our exclusive collaboration with Australian presenter Catriona Rowntree”, which was “a celebration of Catriona Rowntree’s joy for life, French culture and fashion”.
