Colourful, feminine and fun are three words I would use to describe Juliet Godwin’s wardrobe where sentiment and style go hand and hand. From family heirloom faux fur coats and self designed leather jackets through to Zimmermann cocktail dresses and double denim, there is something for every mood and occasion. Despite a “see-through white linen moment” (we’ve all been there …) Juliet’s daily style is a reminder that fashion doesn’t have to be so serious – there is fun to be had when workshopping outfits with friends.

How would you describe your personal style?

Full of colour, lots of fun accessories, double denim and a little thrown together.

Who are your style icons?

My gal pals, they’re all very stylish ladies and inspire me with their groovy/ classy/ colourful or chic outfits. I often run to them for advice when I have an occasion coming up.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

My leather jacket, my Mum got it made for me for my 14th birthday. I got to design it myself and I’ll have it forever.

What are your favourite brands?

Zimmerman! It’s classy — I wore one of their one shoulder black dresses to a wedding. Realisation par – it’s the perfect combo of groove and fun. Cristabel Jewellery – her designs are everything you want in accessories, fun, colourful and classy.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

Yes, I’m the queen of fashion faux pas. Note to self, white linen is see through.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit?

This year I splurged on some leather numbers from a Melbourne brand Ena Pelly. I bought a beautiful leather faux fur coat and some leather pants. I often wear them together, leather on leather is one of my favourite things.

What is the most surprising thing in (or about) your wardrobe?

Even though I bleach stain my colourful jumpers … I still wear them. I call it the accidental tie dye.

Top three wardrobe must haves?

Accessories! I get most of mine from Cristabel Jewellery, her chilli pearl necklace and Milos bracelet are two of my favourite pieces. They can truly spice up an outfit. Sunglasses they can make a simple outfit look fab. Good pair of jeans, they’re an everyday staple.

What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe?

My faux fur coat, I inherited it from my granny who was a very stylish lady. We were close when I was a kid, I’d always dress up in her heels and costume jewellery. So whenever I slip it on, it brings back fond memories.

What would you buy if money was no object?

A Chanel bag.

Summer or Winter Fashion?

Summer, it’s full of colour and you can wear dresses, skirts and open shoes. One of my favourite summer outfits to date is the Mackenzie Mode dress I wore to the races.

Denim or Suits?

Denim all the way, I’m also guilty of rocking double denim regularly.

Loafers or Sneakers?

Sneakers – I call them my go shoes. They’re super comfortable and with all the new fun styles on offer, they can look very stylish.

Is there anything in your wardrobe you have regretted throwing out?

Yes! I had an epic pair of sparkly party pants. I’m desperate to find another pair.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

8 pairs but it’s about to become 9, I have a fun pair of orange heels on the way and I can’t wait to slip them on this summer.

Favourite fashion era (i.e. 60s, 70s, 80s)?

80s, big curly hair and high waisted denim jeans are a regular look for me.

Best Designer fashion purchase this year?

Apart from my leather splurge I haven’t made many. But I did borrow a black Zimmerman one shoulder dress from my friend. I styled it with a green sparkly bag, green heals and some classy Cristabel jewellery pearls (Calypso necklace.) I loved being in that outfit.

Best bargain fashion purchase this year?

While window shopping with my bestie I stumbled across a beautiful checked pant suit. It looks designer but was cheap as chips.
