Theory on Kmart’s ‘always sold out’ coffee grinder emerges

Speculation as to why shoppers can never snag a popular product has emerged online, suggesting the item is being bought for another purpose.

Wild theory about why Kmart item is 'always sold out'

A nifty internet sleuth appears to have discovered the unexpected reason a popular Kmart item is “always sold out”.

TikTok user @skon411 shared an insightful theory about the budget retailer’s $14 coffee grinder after reading a series of customer reviews for the item on the Kmart website.

While it would be easy to believe that shoppers are just very keen on perfectly ground coffee beans, it may be the item is “always sold out” for a different reason.

According to the reviews, it appears customers have been using it to grind something else.

“I use this for something other than what is recommended, works really well,” one review reads.

“Best herb grinder you can buy for that money,” another states.

While one declares: “Best grinder for ‘coffee’, collects the dust really well.”

TikTok users were quick to read between the lines of the five-star reviews, declaring the discovery “gold”.

“I think I’m the only person who uses the Kmart coffee grinder for actual coffee beans,” one teased.

“I don’t think I know anyone that uses this for coffee,” another remarked.

One person claimed it was the unexpected use that meant the grinders were often placed behind a security counter.

“They have these locked behind the counter because they get stolen,” the person wrote.

The theory, shared on Wednesday, quickly blew up attracting over 300,000 views in just 24 hours.

Kmart is yet to comment on the speculation.
