Starward Whisky’s Dave Vitale is making waves with his drink in Australia and now, the world.

Six years after Starward’s roaring success at home, Dave and his family relocated to the US to chase his dream.

Starward is recognised for being aged in old red wine barrels in Port Melbourne.

That ageing process gives the whisky a particular taste, making it a versatile cocktail mixer.

Here are some of Dave’s top cocktails to make with his whisky range.

STARWARD 8

A twist on the classic Ward 8 cocktail, with the addition of Shiraz Grenadine.

Ingredients:

— 50ml Starward Nova

— 20ml Orange Juice

— 20ml Lemon Juice

— 10ml Shiraz grenadine

Method:

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice.

Shake and strain into a coupette glass.

Garnish with lemon peel.

SOLERA SMASH

A twist on the classic Bourbon Smash, with addition of peach liqueur and honey.

Ingredients:

— 45ml Starward Solera

— 10ml Honey Syrup

— 10ml Peach liqueur

— 20ml lemon juice

— 4-5 mint leaves

Method:

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice and shake.

Fine strain into a rocks glass filled with ice cubes.

Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon slice.

LANEWAY BOULEVARDIER

A new world twist inspired by Melbourne’s laneway culture.

Ingredients:

— 40ml Starward Two-Fold

— 20ml Sweet Vermouth

— 15ml Coffee infused Aperol*

Method:

Add all ingredients to a glass over ice, stir and garnish with orange peel.
