Inside My Wardrobe
Sarah Harris, TV presenter, 40
Relaxed, comfortable and effortless are three words I would use to describe both Sarah Harris and her wardrobe. A tour of the Studio 10 presenter’s closet reveals a mix of Alex Perry red carpet gowns and activewear.
Both dress codes are just as relevant for this busy Network 10 presenter and mum of two. With a penchant for sneakers and good shapewear, it’s clear that fashion is just as much about ease as it is trends.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d describe my TV wardrobe as classic, with a twist. I love a frock and a high-waisted pant. In real life, I’m all about practicality and comfort. I’m a mum of two very energetic little boys so I live in activewear.
Who are your style icons?
Anyone who just owns it, whatever they’re wearing.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
A leather (Kit Willow) mini skirt I bought 10 years and two kids ago. Probably wishful thinking hanging on to it, but it’s so beautifully made I can’t bear to part with it.
What are your favourite brands?
Love an Aussie label: Acler, Scanlan Theodore, Camilla and Marc, Aje, Witchery, Bianca Spender.
Have you ever made a style faux pas?
Fashion’s supposed to be fun, but sometimes I’ll veer a little too far into the farrshhon lane and get it very, very wrong.
Like the pink puff-sleeve dress which might’ve been a personal purchase made late-night in lockdown!
She’s since been retired, probably to the costume wardrobe, poor love. Mornings are manic and if it wasn’t for 10Styling who prep everything for us (outfits, jewellery, shoes) I’d be a hot mess.
It takes a lot of people and polish to make me “TV ready”, but sometimes not even a team of professionals can tame my inner dag. I’ve worn a dress on air backwards (only noticed halfway through the show).
What’s the most you have ever spent on an outfit?
My first big power dress purchase was a killer red and cream Alex Perry cap-sleeve frock.
I think it was $800 but dang it made me feel good.
I wheeled it out for my first promo shoot when I moved to 10.
Top three wardrobe must-haves?
Good shapewear, a pair of comfy jeans you can wear to anything and a dress that always makes you feel a million bucks.
What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe and why?
I don’t really get sentimental about clothes.
Summer or winter fashion?
Spring.
Denim or dresses?
Both.
Heels or sneakers?
Sneakers.
Is there anything from your wardrobe you’ve regretted throwing out?
Nah.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
In real life? Less than 10. My feet are so big (they grew a size and a half after two kids) heels hurt and I avoid them outside the studio. Sneakers for the win!
