Protective of their iconic brand, The Beatles give permission for name to be used on $2400 watch

FIERCELY protective of their iconic image, The Beatles have given permission for their name and albums to be used on a $2400 watch.

ICONIC band, The Beatles, don’t give or lend their brand name away as easily as so many celebrities of the modern era do.

So, it has surprised and delighted fans of the Fab Four that the Swiss luxury watchmaker and family-owned brand, Raymond Weil has announced their most star-studded tick-tock partnership yet.

To celebrate 40 years of watchmaking — a young pup compared to The Beatles — Weil has produced just 3000 limited edition watches, the first in a music “icons” series.

While the group may have started way back on the 1960s, their music and fashion style is indelible and the band is still a major influence over 50 years later.

Their glory days may have passed — along with the unforgettable John Lennon who was shot in 1980 and George Harrison who died of lung cancer in 2001 — but there are still 43 million fans who make sure they still reign by supporting The Beatles Facebook page.

One of the quirkiest features on the watch are the 13 album titles that are marked on the dial.

The watch features a mechanical self-winding movement housed in a polished steel case with the album titles written all around the bespoke dial.

There is a special ‘Help’ index at 4 o’clock which recalls the cover of the iconic album released in 1965 and a silver galvanic dial matches the polished steel bracelet. The dial features The Beatles official logo and a ‘date’ window at 3 o’clock.

The case-back has a smoked sapphire crystal that carries the official The Beatles logo and the limited edition of 3000, retailing at $2395, have all been individually engraved.

“We could not feel more proud to associate our Brand name with the exceptional Beatles,’’ says Elie Bernheim, CEO of Raymond Weil.

“Raymond Weil has always been closely linked with music, our dear source of inspiration since our early days.

“We are overjoyed to once again honour great music legends this year and celebrate our 40th anniversary with the Fab Four.”

The advertising campaign features a black and white picture of the timeless and cross-generational Fab Four, and each of the watches (which are called the ‘maestro’ style) is in an impressive, hard-bound watch case.

So, for those who can get enough Beatle-mania memorabilia, sounds like it could be straight to the pool room for this one.
