BEST OFF-LEASH DOG PARKS
Karingal Dve and Naranga Cres, Frankston
Ballam Park is home to new-ish Dog Agility Park which lets your pooch jump through hurdles of different heights, weave through poles, balance on beams and crawl through tunnels.
The area is the size of a full tennis court, fenced off and found at Ballam Park’s rear fence line. There’s also a grassed area for picnics, seats and a drinking tap with dog bowl.
The off-leash space is next to a roam free area, which gives dogs even more space to exercise and socialise.
Brunel Road, Seaford
You can ride your bike through this dog roam free area. Some locals say this isn’t ideal as dogs may be frightened of or run into fast-moving cyclists. Others say the space is great to socialise your pet with others. Locals also said limited fencing around the space, noise from nearby Peninsula Link and no taps were problematic.
McClelland Drive, Frankston
Centenary Park is home to Frankston Dog Obedience Club, and hosts weekly Saturday morning meets. During this time the kiosk is open. There’s also water taps, bins and poo bag dispensers. The entire park is enclosed and a dedicated off-leash area.
Frankston-Flinders Rd and Sages Rd, Frankston
This giant 59-hectare space has a dog roam free area, walking tracks in a nature reserve, playground and public toilets. Enter via Frankston Flinders Rd or Sages Rd.
Cranbourne Rd and Pindara Blvd, Langwarrin
This 20-hectare open space with two playgrounds, a skate park, BBQs and sport fields. The off-leash area is along Pindara Blvd’s northeast corner, however the water taps, bins and a poo-bag dispenser are located at the western side of the oval and you’ll need to cross the on-leash area to get to it.
Eel Race Rd, Seaford
This large reserve hosts the Southern Districts Rugby Club. There’s also plenty of open spaces, seating and bins.
Railway Pde, Seaford
The long-strip of narrow bushland is a dog off-leash area. There’s a playground in the area, but it’s not fenced off.
Railway Pde, Seaford
This six hectare patch has a fenced playground but locals say there’s better ones in the area. They play soccer, football and cricket here as well, with floodlights allowing for night games.
There’s also BBQs, shaded benches and a carpark.
Kirkwood Ave, Seaford
The off-lead dog area also has a fenced playground for the kids. Dog owners must keep their pets within 10 metres of the field when sport is being played.
Paddington Ave and Lyrebird Dve, Carrum Downs
The off-lead area spans about 750m and located between Paddington Ave and Lyrebird Dve.
Skye Rd and Dalpura Circuit, Frankston
Frankston City Council revamped this space in October 2017. Make sure you bring a dog poop bag.
