Royal Melbourne Show a must-see this long weekend

WITH just a few days left of the 2018 Royal Melbourne Show there’s still lots to see and do. Here’s what’s on.

AMID all the footy hysteria, Victorians are checking out the Royal Melbourne Show by the droves.

With sales up 10 per cent from last year, record attendance was anticipated over the long weekend.

The iconic event wraps up for another year on Tuesday, but there’s still lots to see and do.

Traditional sights like petting the animals, riding attractions and collecting copious amounts of showbags remain popular as ever, but there’s also some new additions worth checking out.

Foodies are spoiled for choice at The Meadow, a new precinct at the Show that offers food, drink and entertainment from Melbourne’s best eateries.

Night owls will be in their element at The Show After Dark, which transforms The Meadow into a buzzing dining hotspot, packed with award-winning gastronomic experiences and live entertainment that culminates with a nightly fireworks display.

As for the long weekend highlights there was quite a lot on.

On Sunday the Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout returned for its 83rd year, solidifying itself as one of the most celebrated and highly anticipated horse events in the Australian equestrian calendar.

Thrill seekers also enjoyed the BMX and Motorbike Stunt Show, while sweet tooths tested the wares of one of Australia’s most celebrated patissiers, Pierrick Boyer and his prized creations.
