FROM a mini redhead Roughy to baby Buddy, if your youngster shares an uncanny resemblance to an AFL star, it’s their time to shine.
The popular NAB mini legends commercial is back and they’re looking for child lookalikes who dream of being just like their heroes and becoming the next big name in the game.
Hawthorn four-time premiership player and captain Jarryd Roughead said he loved seeing footy-mad boys and girls getting involved at local grounds.
“The more boys and girls we can get playing, the better off our game is going to be for the future,” he said.
“To get four red-headed kids down here today and to have a bit of fun and teach them the basics was a real thrill,” he said. “I love seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and to see four kids with number 2 on their back is pretty special.”
One of Roughy’s lookalikes, Flynn, 8, was thrilled to spend some time with him at Auskick.
“Roughy taught me how to handball,” he said.
“He’s taller than I thought he would be. I like Roughy because he has a cool beard.”
Last year several aspiring footballers stepped into the shoes of a few footy greats, including Gary Ablett, Joel Selwood and Taylor Walker.
The campaign will appear on TV, digital, social and print media.
Entries close on July 11.
