Leisurefest to showcase caravans, motor homes as popularity increases among families

WITH school holidays in full swing and weather finally warming up, Victorian families with pets are turning to caravans and motorhomes as the road trip vehicle of choice.

Who said pets can’t enjoy a vacation? Not on four-year-old Anton’s watch, who’s willing to smuggle his beloved pooch, Boo, along for the family road trip.

With the school holidays in full swing and the weather finally warming up, Victorian families are turning to caravans and motorhomes as the road trip vehicle of choice, particularly as they’re a pet-friendly form of travel.

“Our annual research reveals that almost a quarter of all caravanners and campers now choose to bring their pets on the road with them,” says Rob Lucas, CEO of the Caravan Industry of Australia Victoria.

Pet-friendly holidays are becoming increasingly popular because owners don’t have to fret about their fur babies or the additional expense of using a pet kennel or carer.

Much-loved celebrity vet Dr. Katrina Warren will be on hand at this year’s Melbourne Leisurefest to answer all pet-related travel queries.

The annual event, which showcases the latest offerings in the world of motorhomes and caravans, runs from this Thursday until Sunday at the Sandown Racecourse. It’s open from 9.30am until 5pm daily, with a 4pm finish on Sunday.
