Mum's 'unpopular' opinion about messy kids at restaurants

"PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!" someone said after watching the mum in the clip... do it.

Controversy stirred: Mum's stance on babies in restaurants

A mum, Courtney Witucki, shared a now-viral clip of herself tidying up food on the floor of a restaurant, saying she thinks every parent should do the same when dining out.

And despite being self-aware and labelling it 'an unpopular opinion', people in the comments still had a field day weighing in with their thoughts.

Let's get into it.

"Don’t clean up after your children"

"Unpopular opinion, but you should always clean up after your babies at restaurants..." the text overlay on the clip read.

The mum-of-two elaborated in the comments, "If you’re not cleaning up after your kids, I really hope you’re leaving a fat tip."

After her video amassed hundreds of thousands of views, viewers were quick to offer their opinions.

"As a prior waitress of five years... Don’t clean up after your children, let us do it!" said one.

Another former hospitality worker agreed, "Server of 15 years, and I would never let any of my guests do this, sorry."

"They have big mops to clean away mess for this reason," a third claimed.

"What if they're having a meltdown and we need to leave immediately, or what happens if you're physically unable to or you're pregnant?" a mum raised.

"You might not do a safe job - like with a spill that needs to be cleaned up properly, or else you'll leave a puddle on the floor," someone else pointed out.

"This is what waiters are there for," another said.

"It's called respect"

But on the other hand, others thought this was basic decency and said they 'always' did this.

"YES! When people say ‘They get paid to clean it up’ drives me nuts. It’s called respect," someone replied.

Then another viewer agreed, "Absolutely. Do I let my kid have fun and make a mess? Yes. Do I clean up the mess after? Also, yes."

Then this parent shared, "I get so many stares doing this, but I would rather be stared at for this than leave a huge mess."
