Eighteen-year-old Jamie is no stranger to judgemental remarks made about her teenage pregnancy.

Learning the news when she was just 17, she and her boyfriend have been documenting their journey as they prepare to welcome their daughter to the world.

The two are elated to begin their lives as parents, but it hasn’t stopped a barrage of judgmental comments due to their young age.

Teen mum hits back at trolls for judging her ‘family tradition’

“Teenage pregnancy runs in the family”

Jamie Lee from the UK uploaded a clip to her TikTok account lipsyncing Taylor Swift’s Speak Now

“When the midwives ask for my date of birth and I say ‘2005’,” she captioned the video before lipsyncing “All eyes on me, horrified looks from everyone in the room.”

In a follow-up clip, she showed her growing baby bump in a tight dress, surrounded by nasty troll comments she had received once announcing her pregnancy.

Some of the rude remarks include, “Kids having kids” and “You’ve ruined your childhood." Proving she didn't let these comments get other, she followed the post up with an ultrasound of her unborn daughter. There, she wrote, “does she know how proud we are she was created.”

And it’s not just online where she gets hit with judgmental attitudes. “I look about three years younger than I am, so when I’m out, there’s always people staring at my belly and giving me judgy looks,” she said. “It’s so funny.”

As for her age, she doesn't believe it plays a factor in her parenting abilities. “Age doesn’t define how good of a mother you are,” she noted.

Despite the barrage of judgemental feedback she received about her age, she doesn’t care about these trolls.

In fact, she insisted she is a teen mum due to a long history of similar stories in her lineage. “Teen pregnancy runs in the family,” she joked. “I didn’t want to ruin the family tradition.”

“The looks I get from other mothers … pure shock”

Fans of the mum-to-be shared their appreciation for her journey as a young mum, with other teenage mums sharing their own experiences of judgment.

“I was 18/19 when I was pregnant, and they still made me feel like I was a 14-year-old,” a mum remarked. “I went through the same thing,” someone answered.

“You’re right, had my first at 18, second at 19,” another young mum wrote. “Kept asking if it was my first, their faces were priceless when I said no, second.”

“Saying 2004 and having the nurse at the front desk of my scan backspace the 19 she already typed,” a mum-to-be laughed.

“Had my first at 19 and my third by 24, just Christmas gone,” read a comment. “The looks I got off the other mothers, pure shock .. the fact I was already on my third.”

“I’m 2005, and I gave birth last year, and I didn’t get judged by no midwife or [doctor] about my age,” another woman added. “However, I got judged by most of the sonographers about my age.”

It’s not just teen mums that cop a gutful of unwanted opinions. “They judge at the other end, too,” said a mum. “I was 41 with my second and same reaction.”
