I suggested a joke baby name to my friend and she chose it

"I'm so sorry, baby! I didn't think she'd do that!"

These are the wildest baby names I've seen in the hospital

We've probably all suggested baby names to our pregnant friends - sometimes genuine, other times far-fetched, or even made-up ones as a joke.

We don't expect them to actually take them though, as this mum did after hearing her friend's name suggestion (and its bizarre spelling).

The friend now says she feels "terrible" for her the baby, who will now be stuck with the joke name his whole life.

She asked her which one was her favourite from a list

Taking to Reddit, the woman explained: "When my best friend was pregnant with her son, she had a huge list of names. On the list was Oliver."

Her friend then texted her to ask which name was her favourite, to which she replied, "Oliver, but spell it Aulliver as a joke."

"She laughed and the conversation moved on," the woman recalled, saying she thought nothing more of the light-hearted banter.

However, a few months later, her friend gave birth and made a Facebook announcement, and her heart sank.

"She'd named him Aulliver.

"I'm sorry, my boy. I didn't think she'd do that!"

"You monster"

The post was instantly flooded with comments, many from people equally as shocked as the OP that the mum named him that.

One person wrote: "You’re not the culprit, your best friend is a low-key villain."

Another added: "That's not on you at all, so don't stress. It's her decision."

And a third said a similar thing happened to her relative: "Mum found the name Asia and suggested it to my step-sister but also included the alternate spelling she found of Ayzha. Give you one guess which one was picked."

Meanwhile, others made light of the situation.

Someone joked: "You monster."

"Damn, should have gone with Awwweliver," another Redditor quipped.
