Kmart is bringing back another '80s trend and we can already feel the blisters!

They're only $8, but will anybody buy it?

The 90s are calling: jelly shoes are back for summer

Fashion trends are cyclical, meaning we see the same things come back in a slightly revamped way again and again and again.

The clothes you once thought were old and daggy, I dare say you’ll now see in your closet in one way or another.

But, Kmart has brought back one item in particular that’s proving to be more than a little controversial.

Welcome to the ‘80s

Last year, Kmart started selling jelly sandals - an ‘80s favourite that turned into a 2020s no no.

Now, they’ve taken things to the next level, with the jelly ballet flat.

Ballet flats in general have had their time in the spotlight lately, with people choosing to rock them in just about every capacity - slingbacks, Mary Janes, and even sneaker ballet flats. So, it was about time the jelly ballet flat made a comeback.

The shoes, like jelly sandals, were huge in the ‘80s, and are now being sold by bougie brands like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row for a whopping $1750.

Thankfully, Kmart’s version is only $8, and Instagram account @kmartinsider took to the platform to break the news.

“The 90’s called…and [Kmart] is bringing back those sweet low prices!” the post said.

“What do we think of these new IT shoes that are a perfect dupe for The Row’s Mara flats?”

“Love these!”

A number of commenters on the post were thrilled to see the shoes, described on Kmart’s website as having ‘a great mix of comfort and style’, make a comeback.

“Actually love jelly shoes lol seems like I’m the only one,” said one commenter.

“Love these!” another agreed.

“OMG [take me] back!!!! I had so many colours,” a third person said.

“I can already feel the blisters”

But, others weren’t so sure, reminiscing instead about the squelching sounds and painful blisters they left behind - beauty is pain, right?

“They were foul in the 80s and they are once again,” one person said.

“Like seriously who would pay that for plastic !!!” said another.

“I [can] already feel the blisters,” a third person added.

“Wouldn’t buy them at any price,” another agreed.

“You will fart as you walk....promise. And your feet will look like a strung up pork roll..ready for roasting in the airfryer!!!” said another commenter.
