Today we share some of the restaurants offering takeaway during lockdown 2.0 — and you’d be surprised how many deliver to your suburb.

PROVIDOOR

What: Melbourne’s best restaurants under the one roof.

Delivery: 35km radius from CBD. Including: Glen Waverley, Oakleigh, Ringwood, Dandenong, Taylors Lakes, Box Hill, Croydon, Mentone, Thomastown and Werribee. See the full list here.

Tokyo Tina, David’s, Burch and Purchese, Park Street Pasta and Wine and Daughter in Law are the latest restaurants to join Melbourne chef Shane Delia’s home-delivery takeaway service Providoor.

Here you can order ready-made meals from Melbourne’s top-tier restaurants like Flower Drum, Cumulus Inc, Palmero, Pastuso, Supernormal, Tipo 00, St ALI and Movida.

Food arrives via refrigerated freight and only needs reheating and assembling to finish.

Unlike other delivery services, Providoor only charges 15 per cent commission.

Delivers within a 35km radius of Melbourne’s CBD (for a $16.50 fee).

LUCAS GROUP

What: Chin Chin, Baby Pizza, Kisume and Hawker Hall delivered to your door.

Delivery: 4km of restaurant’s CDB and Richmond locations.

Lucas Restaurants launches its own delivery service from Friday 31 and for the first time will deliver food from its Japanese venue Kisume. Delivery to residents within 4km of restaurant locations for $5 fee.

MR BROWNIE ROOFTOP

What: Modern Indian cuisine.

Delivery: Monday to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, within 5km from restaurant.

Jessi Singh’s new British curry pub opened in South Melbourne a couple of weeks before lockdown 2.0. You can still show your support by ordering from his Punjabi deli and cafe menu, for collection or delivery. All proceeds goes to visa workers from 7am to 12pm.

HEMINGWAYS WINE ROOM

What: Fancy-ish French fare.

Delivery: East Melbourne, St Kilda Road, Richmond, Cremorne, South Yarra, Prahran, Toorak, Collingwood, Fitzroy for $10 fee.

This East Melbourne, New York-inspired wine bar opened in March. Four months into the pandemic and they’ve launched the Maisonette at-home menu which lets you sip fancy champagne and eat French fare. The ‘A Moveable Feast’ dining package starts at $150 for two and includes half-a-dozen oysters, cured trout, duck liver parfait, ratatouille, roti, cheese and blanquette de veau. Complete your experience with a wine or premium wine package.

AUSTRALIAN VENUE CO PUBS

What: Pub grub

Delivery: nearby suburbs via Uber Eats.

Don’t worry, you can still enjoy a counter meal in lockdown at either Prahran’s College Lawn, South Melbourne’s O’Connells, The Local and The Exchange Hotel in Port Melbourne, Middle Park Hotel, Auburn Hotel, Footscray’s Station Hotel and Studley Park Boat Reserve.

ISHIZUKA

What: Japanese

Delivery: 20km radius of the CBD. Addresses beyond 10km must contact Ishizuka to confirm and have a $1.18 charge per km.

Michelin Star chef Yomo’s cook-at-home menu includes sashimi, sukiyaki (Japanese hot pot) and dessert. Meals include an eight-hour braised lamb shoulder or smoked ora salmon, sashimi such as toro (Tokyo Fish Market tuna belly) or abalone and sukiyaki, as well as Ishizuka’s premium bento boxes.

TIPICO

What: Italian.

Delivery: 5km of Prahran.

Tipico-to-go is a new lockdown 2.0 initiative. Order a date night pack for two, which includes homemade focaccia, burrata, gnocchi duck ragu and brussels sprouts and tiramisu.

BIBELOT

What: High tea at home

Delivery: 15km radius of South Melbourne, including Sunshine, Altona, Ardeer, Flemington, Malvern, Brighton East. Full list here.

Bibelot in South Melbourne recently launched its High Tea At Home packs which, for $99 for two, include a selection of sandwiches, Bibelot desserts and buttermilk scones with house-made jam and cream.

GIRO D’ITALIA

What: $10 pasta bowls.

Delivery: Delivering to different suburbs daily, from Richmond, Carnegie, Oakleigh, Blackrock, Mentone, Cheltenham and CBD.

Want to order takeaway but don’t want to spend a fortune? Giro D’Italia on St Kilda Rd delivers $10 ready-made pasta bowls from Tuesday to Saturday, including: Bolognese, Tomato and Basil, Zingara, Amatriciana, Quattro Formaggi and Arrabbiata. Gluten free and vegan options are also available.

SEBASTIAN

What: Basque-inspired meals.

Delivery: UberEats.

Collection: Pick-up from Sebastian in Williamstown. Dinner box collections also available in Altona, Yarraville and Northcote. Order until 5pm Thursday for pick up Friday or Saturday. More details here.

Sebastian in Williamstown is best known for its Basque-inspired cuisine. Order hot takeaway or partially-cooked meals to be reheated later or another day.

Bistro Gitan celebrates the rotisserie with its take home offerings, which including Wednesday chicken, specialty rotisserie dish Fridays and Sunday Roast.
