An Aussie interior designer has managed to replicate a $1490 side table, for under $100.
Samantha Milne, from Tasmania, known for her styling and DIY tips – explained she has had her eye on a Globewest coffee table, but wasn’t a fan of the price.
So she found a way to make a similar version using two items from Bunnings and Kmart.
“You guys know I love a quick and easy DIY and this coffee table was no exception,” she said in an Instagram post.
“I used the legs from a @kmartaus coffee table with the table top from a @bunnings table and combined them with my favourite @selleysanz Hold Up glue.”
Samantha said the entire process took no more than 10 minutes, costing just under $100.
To make the table, Samantha drew a 15cm triangle around the centre point of the terrazzo table top.
She then took the legs off the Finn coffee table from Kmart and glued it to the bottom of the Bunnings table using Selleys Hold Up glue.
Hundreds of DIY lovers have since commended Samantha on her “clever” hack.
“Looks even better than the original!” one person wrote.
“Omg I love this!!” a second person said, while a third added: “Love your style and this table, wow!!”
Others were keen to give it a try, branding it “amazing”.
“I totally want to try this but I’m scared cos I’m rubbish at DIY,” one woman wrote, to which Samantha responded: “It’s honestly super easy, you can do it.”
The interior designer recently revealed how she transformed two chopping boards from Kmart into a trendy side table using just a few items from Bunnings.
“In need of a new side table I decided to get creative using some porta timber and terrazzo,” she said in the post.
“For this project I used a terrazzo outdoor table from Bunnings and some porta timber 18mm fly bead dowels.”
To create the piece, she connected the two round chopping boards with ‘struts’ using scrap pieces of timber to create a frame. She then used the Gorilla glue to attach the porta timber half dowels which she had cut to size.
“The final piece is the terrazzo tabletop ($49.98) which I sourced from a small @bunnings outdoor table,” she wrote in a separate post.
