A kitschy decor range from an unexpected source has garnered a lot of attention on social media, with many declaring they “never knew” the store had items like this.
The Reject Shop released an American Diner range. It comes as the Pinterest Trend Report for 2025 showed that “cream soda aesthetic” increased by 105 per cent in the last year.
The range included a milk and juice carton inspired jugs, coffee tins, bread tins, cheeseburger mugs, chip baskets and sauce bottles.
The brand also expanded on its popular Strawberry Delight range that sold out last year.
Social media users have been quick to express their excitement over the products.
Jen Rothwell, who goes by @jen.rothwell online, told her followers that they needed to head into The Reject Shop if they loved “all things kitschy homeware”.
“They have just released the cutest range of homeware and trinkets all under $15. I could have easily purchased everything but I restrained myself,” she said.
“I want everything in that store,” one social media user said.
Another added: “It’s not a want, it’s a need.”
“Eeeek yes! I have the strawberry, watermelon and lemon plate,” one commented.
One commented: “Growing up is literally becoming obsessed with The Reject Shop.”
“Crying in Northern Territory cause we don’t have a The Reject Shop,” another said.
Others said they “never knew” the brand had decor like this, and others wanted it to come to New Zealand.
The brand said it loved home decor that gave a “personality” to spaces.
“We’re always experimenting with quirky and unique homewares ranges. We love home decor that gives a colourful personality to spaces, inspiring our customers to take fun risks with their interior design while remaining on a budget,” a spokesperson from the Reject Shop told news.com.au.
“Last year, we saw a huge increase in the popularity of food-inspired homewares, so we wanted to continue this trend into 2025. The retro vibe of the American Diner range gives our customers that nostalgic feeling of the restaurants we see in Hollywood movies, while our Strawberry Delight collection builds on our Strawberry homewares that sold out quickly last year.
“The response has been overwhelmingly positive so far! Our customers have been sharing content of the ranges across TikTok and Instagram, which we’re loving to see. As always, we encourage our customers to head into their local store if they want to get their hands on these collections, as they are flying off the shelves.”
It’s not the first time the budget retailer has outdone itself with its homewares range. Last year The Reject Shop released a “cottagecore” homewares range that featured mushroom plates, soap dispensers, salt and pepper shakers, candles, measuring spoons and mugs.
Social media user, @gloomom, said she bought a few new cat plates after finding the “mushroom and woodland goodness”.
Other social media users were incredibly impressed by the range.
“Reject Shop is in their slay era,” one social media user commented.
Another said: “Uh oh … I’m in trouble. I love anything with foxes on it.”
“I went today and the lady looked concerned with how much mushroom stuff I had (I was also in a mushroom skirt),” one joked.
