A “mystery” floating bar has popped up on the Yarra River, leading many to speculate what will open in the space as the weather heats up.
Tradies have been working around the clock to complete the posh pontoon, with heavy duty cranes forming the structure earlier this week.
Luxe construction company The Melbourne Builder, behind the Birdcage’s up-market marquees at the Melbourne Cup Carnival and residential projects with influencer Bec Judd, is leading the construction.
Unlike other Melbourne bars Arbory Afloat and Yarra Botanica, the mystery bar is located further along the river at Henley Landing dock near the Swan Street Bridge.
The tranquil site surrounded by greenery boasts stellar views of the CBD and is a stone’s throw from the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Though when the Herald Sun quizzed industry insiders about the identity of the watering hole, we were given very sobering news.
Arbory Afloat confirmed the Henley Landing works were part of structural builds for its relaunch of its new Capri-themed bar.
As large cranes and heavy moving equipment can’t access Arbory Afloat’s original location, works have been carried out along the Yarra River, recently moving to the Henley Landing site.
The completed pontoon will be moved to its Flinders Street Station location ahead of its September launch.
When asked whether Arbory Alfoat would consider relocating to the schmick new location for the 2024/25 season, a spokeswoman denied this was the case.
Now or Never arts festival is also understood to be using the Henley Landing pontoon to build art installations ahead of its August 22-31 program.
