Lune to open new Fitzroy venue Moon Cruller

The team behind the best croissants in the world is opening a new venue involving pastries in Fitzroy.

The cafe that makes the world’s best croissants and has a reputation for attracting long morning queues for pastries is opening a new Fitzroy venue.

Croissant queen Kate Reid left mouths watering after making a social media call-out for a pastry chef to lead her new project last week.

Moon Cruller is the new project behind Reid’s Lune Croissanterie, but speculation surrounds what the new venue will actually be.

What we do know is it will soon open in Fitzroy and if the name is anything to go by, be based around the cruller — a deep-fried pastry-like, doughnut popular in the US and Canada.

Lune posted on Instagram last week asking for a “motivated and organised full time pastry chef” to work at Moon Cruller.

Moon Cruller already has more than 500 Instagram followers.

While nothing more has been posted on social media, an Australian Business Register search found Lune Co Pty Ltd renewed its Lune Croissanterie business name this March, along with another name Moon Cruller.

Lune also registered another business name, Butler Wine Bar, on April 22.

Lune’s croissants have been touted as the best in the world, gaining global attention after a New York Times article.

Reid, a former F1 engineer, launched her popular croissant business Lune in Fitzroy in 2015 and a CBD store in 2018, both of which attract long queues of customers on the weekend.
