Pies star Dane Swan’s Windsor pub is going to the dogs.
Now you can order some pet-food with your parma and pint at The Union Hotel for the ultimate Barkin’ Bite Experience.
“You don’t have (your dog) for a long time and you need to spend time with them, so this is the perfect excuse to come down and have a few beers with mates and dog,” Swan said.
The Collingwood great has partnered with Melbourne gourmet, human-grade dog food brand Larry’s Lunch to push five protein-packed bowls at the pub, every Sunday in December.
Posh pooches can choose from either beef, chicken, turkey, lamb and fish, with each recipe curated by star Melbourne chef Raymond Capaldi.
Don’t worry, there won’t be paws at the table — all dog food will be served in bowls, or Larry’s Lunch trays, on the ground outside in the shaded courtyard.
“We’ll have these on every Sunday for December to get a feel for demand. If we get a good response, we’ll keep it on,” Swan said.
Larry’s Lunch was founded by Melbourne entrepreneur Aaron Bach, after his beloved labradoodle Larry was mauled by another dog in a freak incident five years ago.
With a crushed skull and jaw, requiring multiple surgeries to fix, Larry was unable to eat kibble.
So Bach cooked him wholefood-based meals such as rice, chicken and veg until he recovered.
Try The Barkin’ Bite Experience at The Union Hotel in Windsor, every Sunday this December from 12pm till 4pm. Meals cost $12 each.
