From brisket to die and one of the best burgers in town, here’s where to eat and drink in Brunswick East, according to Sandwich Parlour executive chef Jay Van Rhee.

ALEHOUSE PROJECT

When this venue opened, my mates and I got very excited, up to 12 beers on weekly rotations and trivia, what more could you want? I’ve had many different beers, the standout being a viscous caramel-choc porter. Paired with fantastic pub food, it’s always a great place to meet up and catch up.

ETTA

Dining at Etta has always been fantastic, with one of the softest, crunchiest sourdoughs I’ve ever tasted. So much so, the last time I ate there, I ordered two serves! Fantastic food in a modern setting.

BLUEBONNET BBQ

The guys at Bluebonnet know their way around the smoker. I love the Deep South American feel, and they’re always pumping blues. The brisket melts in your mouth and you can wash it down with a huge selection of whiskey and some great local craft beers.

KUMO IZAKAYA

I’m a huge fan of clean, tasty Japanese food and the team at Kumo are well equipped to deliver. Fresh sashimi is my favourite here, delicious morsels with acidic dressings, well balanced and delicious.

THE B. EAST

Clint Eastwood: you can’t go past the name on the menu without laughing about it. It’s also a phenomenal burger, juicy, crunchy chicken slathered in thousand island dressing, delicious! With a side of poutine fries and nice cold one, B.East is nailing pub fare. You can also jump on the Nintendo 64 afterwards, to determine which of you is the greatest Golden Eye player of all-time.
